Turning Joyful Moments into Lasting Impact

Welcoming a baby is one of life’s most joyous milestones, and celebrations like baby showers are a wonderful way to share that excitement with loved ones. But what if your celebration could go beyond creating memories for you and your family and make a difference in the lives of others, too?

By weaving fundraising into your special day, you can spread the love even further, supporting parents, babies, charities and families that need it. Here’s some ideas for turning your celebration into a force for good!

1. Add a Charitable Twist to Your Gift List

Instead of (or alongside) a traditional gift list, consider creating a fundraiser for your favourite charity, such as us here at Kicks Count! Guests often love the opportunity to give a gift that makes a lasting impact. Platforms like JustGiving make it easy to set up a fundraising page you can share with your invitations.

You could also set up an Amazon Baby wishlist. You will receive a free gift, discounts and can share your list with family and friends. If you use our affiliate link we may receive a donation for each wishlist set up.

2. Host a Charity Raffle or Auction

Add a little light-hearted fun to your celebration with a charity raffle or auction. Guests can bring a small gift to contribute, or you could include experiences like a “babysitting voucher” for the future! Charge a small fee for raffle tickets or auction bids, and donate the proceeds to your chosen charity.

3. Create a Giving Moment

Take a moment during your baby shower to talk about your chosen charity and why it’s meaningful to you. Whether it’s through a heartfelt toast or even a short video, letting your loved ones know how their contributions make a difference can inspire even more support - it's also a great way to raise awareness!

4. Donate Unwanted Baby Items

Baby showers often lead to duplicates or extra items you might not need. Why not donate those items to families who do? Baby Banks accept donations of baby clothes, nappies and other essentials to support families in challenging circumstances. You can check for any baby banks local to you here.

5. Celebrating the First Birthday? Keep the Spirit Going!

The giving doesn’t have to stop at your baby shower. For your baby’s first birthday, consider a charity-themed party where guests can make a small donation instead of bringing presents. It's a lovely way to celebrate milestones while teaching the importance of kindness and community from the start.
